Since 28.06.18, the Vaccination Commission (STIKO) has also recommended vaccination against human papillomaviruses (HPV) for boys aged 9-14. The aim is to prevent cancer caused by these viruses. Every year, 6200 women and 1600 men suffer from cervical, anal, penile and pharyngeal carcinomas associated with HPV viruses. It is to be hoped that the Joint Federal Committee will declare this vaccination a cash benefit in future. Newer multiple vaccines also protect against the most common pathogens of genital warts.
